Explanations:
Ausg’steckt is means a period of time where the winemaker offers his guests something to eat and to drink (wine!), often signalized by a green branch hanging at the entrance.
Heuriger is the location (a wine tavern) where you can drink wine and eat traditional food. Every Heuriger has opened several times during a year.
To drink at a Heurigen: Every of our 35 winemakers in Sooss offers his self-produced wine. Wine lovers can choose between many different red and white wine varieties.
To eat at a Heurigen: In the past only sausages and bread was offered. Today our “Heurigen” are well-known for their excellent cuisine. For instance you can choose between Schnitzel (escalope), Blutwurst (blood sausage), Bratwurst (fried sausage), and lots of other traditional specialities.
